Amirim Club - "Rembrandt and the Jews of Amsterdam" Concert (optional activity)

Date:
Sun, 19/01/202020:00-22:00
Location:
International YMCA Jerusalem
This year marks 350 years since the death of the great Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn, who lived most of his life amongst Amsterdam’s Jewish community. Biblical motifs are very common in his artwork, and many of his paintings, as well as paintings not necessarily related to themes from the Bible, portray figures with distinctly Semitic features. Apparently, the community members served as models. In this concert we will perform rare works from the 17th and 18th centuries Dutch baroque, including those played by members of the Jewish community and served as Rembrandt’s cultural background.
